About Form I-9

• Who fills it in: Every new employee fills in Section 1; the employer completes Section 2.
• Where it goes: Your employer, who keeps it — it is not sent to USCIS.
• Section 1 is due by your first day of work; your employer checks your documents for Section 2.
• Ask your employer how they want it signed: some use an electronic I-9 system, others want it printed and signed.
