Fill in a PDF form in Chrome

Applications, registrations, tax and school forms — most arrive as PDFs with boxes to fill. PDFPane finds every box, walks you through them, and lets you sign and download a finished copy, all inside Chrome.

What you can fill

• Text boxes, including multi-line ones, and number and date boxes.
• Tick boxes and radio buttons — click to choose.
• Drop-down lists — pick an option.
• Any language written in Latin, Cyrillic or Greek letters, with accents, typed correctly into the fields.

Step by step

1. Open the PDF form in a Chrome tab and click the PDFPane toolbar button — the same PDF opens in the editor, no saving and re-finding needed. Or drop a PDF from your computer into the editor.
2. The bar above the page tells you how many fields there are. Click the first one and press Tab to go through them in order.
3. Something the form did not leave a box for? Click anywhere on the page and type there, or add a tick, a cross or the date.
4. Sign if the form asks for it, then Download. Made a mistake? Undo takes back any step.

Good to know

• The form you opened is never changed: every download is a new copy.
• Opening, filling and signing work even with Wi-Fi off. Free: 3 downloads a month; Unlimited is $19 once.
• A few old government forms are "dynamic" XFA forms made for Adobe LiveCycle. No browser tool can fill those; PDFPane tells you so when you open one, instead of showing a broken page.
